The Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education operates a system of open referral where mainly parents or prime carers make direct contact. We would also welcome referrals from professionals.

The application process is as follows: xxx

•  Contact is made with The Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education. A member of the service team will arrange a visit where the client meets the conductors and takes part in a session.

•  After the first visit a decision is made whether to proceed further with the application and a date for an assessment will be offered.

•  The pre-assessment questionnaire will be completed. This is designed to gain information about the client's relatives, development and areas of difficulty. This and any other relevant reports will be required to obtain a full client profile

•  The assessment is an hour consultation where the conductor will discover the client's capabilities. This is the golden rule for the conductor. Clients should be able to clearly demonstrate an ability to participate and learn at some level in order to benefit from Conductive Education. It is recognised that some clients may respond differently in new situations, therefore we offer a 3 month trial period.

•  During the 3 month trial period, both parents/carers and professionals can assess whether they find Conduction Education beneficial for the client.

•  After the trial period, discussion will take place to decide whether to extend the trial period or to offer a continuous placement.

•  One term's notice is required from parents/carers prior to withdrawing from The Rainbow Centre's services.
