Employee volunteering is an extremely positive way of helping a charity which doesn't involve simply handing over money. Of course we do need money but this page aims to highlight some other ways your business could get involved that will benefit you as an employer as well as us as the charity.
Below are real examples of companies that have seen tangible benefits from working on projects with us, which is a refreshing change from the usual expectation of just writing a cheque and hoping for some publicity to ensue.
There are the more usual options of corporate adoptions and we are always very happy to follow this route too but we feel very strongly that there are substantial benefits to be gained from this type of collaboration, particularly team building and interpersonal skills, staff morale and community values.

• Case study – OSRL
Syren Training was looking for a non-work related project to support their management training with Oil Spill Response Limited to help their management team develop and bond into a cohesive unit. Working together, we identified a project to scope, plan, fund and build an outdoor assault course for the children to use. The team worked closely together in a non-confrontational environment and found they had much more in common with each other and ended up enjoying working together. The benefits to the company were substantial and interestingly, free to acquire. The children at The Rainbow Centre benefited from having a very specialised assault course to help develop their sensory and independence skills |

• Case study – Uniworld Communications
Uniworld wanted to build on their team spirit, show their staff how responsible companies and people can work within the community and develop the skills of their non-management employees. They created a team of non-management to plan, organise, promote and support a team of Hampshire policemen in their goal of cycling across the USA to raise funds for the Rainbow Centre. Employees learned management and leadership skills, planning logistics, marketing, PR and, how to take a project from the drawing board to successful conclusion. As a result a number of employees came to management’s attention and gained promotions within the company. To a person, they found the whole project very rewarding. The cycle ride raised an essential £25,000 for The Rainbow Centre. |

• Case study– Proposal Genie
Proposal Genie wanted to give its employees an opportunity to learn team, management and leadership skills and create a closer bond with their customers and suppliers. The employees formed a committee to plan, organise and run a corporate golf day and gala dinner. They learned selling and marketing skills, how to operate as a team and how to bond as a unit. These skills have been taken back to the workplace where Proposal Genie reports a greatly increased staff morale.
