Saturday 12th May
At Mayflower Park, Southampton

Teams of 11 including someone with a sense of rhythm!

All you need to do is send a deposit of £350 to secure your boat, then raise a minimum sponsorship of £35 per person – all proceeds to The Rainbow Centre!

9.30am for a team briefing – life jackets and moral support provided!

Don’t forget to bring family and friends who can cheer on the teams as well as enjoy the stalls and entertainments at Mayflower Park.

Join us at Manor Farm Country Park for a sponsored walk – 25th March

Join us at Manor Farm Country Park for a fun day and raise money for three local charities including The Rainbow Centre.

Walk Details:

Distances – 5k, 10k and 20k The 5k and 10k walks take place in Manor Farm Country Park (one circuit or two) and will be fully signposted. The 20k starts in the Country Park but then takes you down the banks of the River Hamble to Warsash, picturesque Bursledon and Holly Hill before heading back up to the Manor Farm Country Park. It will be fully marshalled so you don’t need to worry about getting lost!

Start times:

9.30am 20k, (registration from 9.00am)
10.30am 10k (registration from 10.00am)
11.30am 5k. (registration from 11.00am) The 5k is suitable for pushchairs but you will have some lifting over styles and fences.
Welcome pack: walkers will be sent a welcome pack prior to the event with detailed information about getting to Manor Farm Country Park, routes, registration, parking and drinks vouchers etc!

Car parking: Car parking is available near to the Start and your entry will include one car parking voucher. However, it is field parking and therefore weather dependant, so we would ask all participants to consider sharing with anyone they know who is also taking part.

Fun for all the family: Hot and cold drinks and hot food will be available throughout the day. In addition we have face painting and a bouncy castle for younger children and a mobile climbing wall for children over the age of seven.

Late Christmas Present for Rainbow Children

The Ladies Committee of the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble, Southampton held a charity Christmas Fair on November 5th 2011 and raised £2680 for The Centre.

There were at least 33 stalls and the club opened up to the general public to make the event a huge success. Jenny Walton and Nicky Gardener presented the cheque to some of the children at the Centre on 20th January 2012. Jenny has been a loyal supporter of The Rainbow Centre for many years and was interested to hear about future plans for the Centre and both ladies enjoyed the welcome they received from the children and their parents.

The Ladies Committee holds the event annually and this year The Rainbow Centre was delighted to be a chosen beneficiary.

New Years Day Dip Raises £350

Mark James took a New Years Day plunge into the Solent to raise a magnificent £350 for the centre.

Rainbow Centre’s Pantomime Christmas Ball

Last Saturday evening 170 guests entered into the festive spirit at the , held at The Botleigh Grange Hotel in Hedge End. The Ball, which raised over £6,000 was a huge success. Many of the guests looked stunning dressed as their favourite pantomime characters and there was a star turn from seasoned amateur dame Andy Griffiths who stole the show as Sarah the Cook from the pantomime, Dick Whittington. Master of Ceremonies Rob Marchant of Clive Emson Auctioneers ensured that guests had a fantastic time and controlled a lively auction.

Guests included local MP Mark Hoban whose wife Fiona is a Rainbow Patron, Annabelle Vaughan and Douglas Miller of Coffin Mew solicitors, local businessman Bob Bernier, Alison and Tim Millinder of Marathon Leisure and Bruce Elkins of CW Fellowes

CEO D’Arcy Myers said; “ All the guests entered into the spirit of the occasion and created some fantastic costumes. I did not even recognise my chairman of trustees who was an especially convincing crocodile. As a new boy it was great to meet so many of our loyal supporters, who gave so very generously on the night.”

Fareham Art Group

Fareham Art Group recently completed a project to reproduce a watercolour by local artist Helen Brown. The result was framed and presented to The Rainbow Centre on December 6th by key members of the art group and Helen Brown herself.

‘The BIG picture’ is the result of the combined work of Fareham Art Group members from the evening workshops. They were set the challenge to enlarge a copy of an original watercolour painting, ‘Anyone for Chess’ by Helen Brown, a local artist and framer, from Park Gate, near Fareham, who kindly gave permission for the art group to reproduce her superb original work of art.

Members of the group undertook to paint a segment each and the magnificent result was donated to The Rainbow Centre.
