Coopervision Inc.

Some businesses may engage with one charity for a period of several years. We are fortunate to have had Preferred Charity status with Coopervision since 2008.

The Coopervision Forum runs events throughout the year such as Bonus Ball, Summer Fun Day, cake sales, hamper donation (staff have the option to receive a Christmas Hamper or donate the cost to charity) and the Christmas Raffle. They also run social events such as BBQs and a large party in November.

In 2010 they held all of the above and in addition ran monthly Money Balls, a Christmas tombola, a five a side fun day, art competition and ten pin bowling. They have many more things planned for 2011 …not to mention sponsoring our 21st Birthday Gala Ball in June.

CooperVision Gives Bumper Gift to Rainbow

Everyone at Rainbow is celebrating after being given a total of £17,610 by CooperVision Incat the end of January.

The specialist contact lens manufacturer, based at Segensworth Business Park, Fareham supports the Rainbow Centre as one of its nominated charities. A magnificent £8,805 was raised by individual members of staff who took part in events organised throughout 2011 by the Delta Park Staff Forum. The events included a Rainbow Day, a family Fun Day, an art exhibition and Christmas Dinner at the Botleigh Grange Hotel to name but a few.

This sum was then matched by CooperVision’s Corporate function to celebrate the company achieving record sales of $1billion worldwide. Delta Park Staff nominated Rainbow to be beneficiaries.

D’Arcy Myers, CEO, who received the cheques on behalf of the Rainbow Centre said:

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of CooperVision. Thank you to each and every person who contributed to this donation in any way. It is the largest single donation from a business community that the Rainbow Centre has ever received. This money will go directly towards the life-changing services we provide which are so important to the children and adults who attend the Centre in Fareham. The positive impact on their physical and social progress through independence skills learning has a knock on effect on entire families.

This continued partnership between The Rainbow Centre and CooperVision is highly valued and in the future we hope to expand our services and grow this partnership further. We congratulate CooperVision on the outstanding achievement of $1Billion sales in lenses and thank you sincerely on behalf of everyone at The Rainbow Centre for this opportunity to share and delight in CooperVision’s success”.

John Weber, President of CooperVision Inc. said “It made perfect sense that as a business we should give back to the local communities, without whom we would not have achieved such a significant milestone. We wanted to celebrate responsibly, and in doing so continue to support charities that have made such a positive impact, but still need support from businesses such as CooperVision.”
Particularly during a harsh economic climate, charities are confronted with an uphill struggle to raise funds to support their causes. CooperVision’s donations have been made to go some way to make the lives of people who depend on these charities a little easier.”

We are enormously proud to have been chosen by Delta Park staff and CooperVision Inc’s corporate function to share in their success. Thank you to all concerned.

Coopervision’s Rainbow Day Raises £2,276

Huge congratulations to our wonderful supporters at Coopervision Delta Park who’s Rainbow Day on 30th September raised a magnificent £2,276 for The Centre!

The Day was actually kicked off by the Night Shift who put their own spin on events and held a ‘Wild West’ evening. There were some excellent costumes on show and the staff set up their own canteen serving Tex Mex food!!

Most of the events lasted throughout the day with staff given time off from their working day to participate. This also had the benefit of everyone interacting and getting to meet people and see parts of Delta Park that they wouldn’t do in the course of a normal days work.

Each department at Delta Park had to arrange an event or activity that all the staff could take part in if they wished. These included, amongst others, 10 pin bowling, beat the goalie, Wii zone, crazy golf, cake stalls and pick ‘n’ mix trollies. Staff were encouraged to wear fancy dress or colourful clothing with prizes on offer for the best dressed.

Coopervision Delta Park Staff Forum member Doug Pollard was delighted with the response and the result! He said: “In the past staff at Coopervision Delta Park have held ‘Pink Days’ in aid of breat cancer but we hadn’t held one for some years and with the steadily growing support for the Family Fun Days, the Staff Forum felt we should hold a ‘Rainbow Day’ with all monies raised going to our supported charity the Rainbow Centre. All in all the day was a fantastic success with just over £2,276 raised on the day”.
