B Matthews Funeral Directors and Memorial Masons held an Open Day on Tuesday 22nd February to celebrate their move into new and bigger premises in Middle Road, Park Gate and used the day to help raise funds in support of The Rainbow Centre, Fareham.

During the day, residents of Park Gate paid to have rides in a horse drawn carriage and guests including The Mayor and Mayoress of Fareham took part in a dove release. Rev. Fr. John Cooke of St Margaret Mary Church, Park Gate and Rev. Charles Sugden of St John’s Church, Locks Heath between them held a service of dedication for the new Chapel of Rest after which guests were invited to launch a memorial balloon in memory of their loved ones.

Andrew Cutmore of B Matthews said “ The loss of a loved one is something we all face in our lives. It is a difficult time and we need to be able to rely on help and support from those around us. At B. Matthews we take care of all the practical matters surrounding a bereavement, giving you peace of mind and leaving you free to be with your family and friends. We are very pleased with our new premises and now that these have been blessed are confident our visitors first experience will be one of warmth and comfort.

Julie Woodward, Community and Events Fundraiser at The Rainbow Centre says “ We would like to thank B Matthews for choosing The Rainbow Centre to benefit from their open day and would like to take this opportunity in wishing them every success in their new home”.
