Following Helen Somerset How's announcement that she intends to retire in May 2010, the Board of Trustees took the opportunity to implement an organisational restructure. Gillian's appointment has been made now to maximise handover opportunities during Helen's last six months.

Gillian has been involved in the charity world for the last 26 years, and has led a number of organisations involving a significant number of disadvantaged young people.

With a strong arts and mediation background, Gillian has also co-founded her own business which remains a highly successful market leader. Amongst her many achievements, she has advised the Arts Council of England and lectured for the Open University Business School.

Gillian is highly motivated to ensure that each individual is empowered to achieve their potential. The Rainbow Centre is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Gillian has many eclectic interests which include walking in wild quiet places - are there any in Hampshire? And as a perpetual student, is often found with her head buried in a book or in quiet contemplation during her spare time.
