The History of the Rainbow Centre - The Quay Street Years

Quay Street was a huge leap forward, but not an ideal solution. It was leased from Fareham Borough Council and was on the first floor of the building, over a carpet shop.

Quay Street

Children and wheelchairs had to be carried up a steep flight of stairs. On rainy days the roof leaked and buckets had to be strategically placed to catch the drops from the ceiling! However it was usually a bright and cheerful place and many families will have fond memories of the things which were achieved there.

After thirteen years, Fareham Borough Council announced the development of the area as part of the new Market Street shopping centre. Quay Street's days were numbered and in 2004 it became time to find a new home.
