Himalayan Trek 2005

A selection of the many photos taken during the 2005 Nepal Trek. Everyone without exception said it was the greatest of experiences and were overwhelmed at the humility of the people they met and the stunning views. Between them, our eight trekker raised over £20,000 for the Rainbow Centre.

Anyone keen to participate in a future trek, email Julie...

Darren Hewson. "My name is Darren and here I am with my dog Dave. I am married to Tara and we live in Gosport. We love living on the coast as we have a speed boat and love water skiing and wake boarding  in the summer. In the winter months we enjoy snow boarding and walking Dave along the beach. My hobbies include diving, kite surfing and five a side football.
I have never done a trek before and am really  looking forward to it and to meeting the rest of the group".

Samantha Hammond. "My name is Sam, and I was invited on the trek to Nepal by my brother Andy, whose son Jacob, attends the Rainbow Centre. I live in a small village in Herefordshire, with my partner, Martin. We have two dogs, and thirteen Highland Cattle. In July we are expecting a further five calves to be born. Living in the countryside, I do a reasonable amount of walking, mainly through the woods and tracks around the village, although the Malvern Hills aren't too far away, if I'm feeling a bit more energetic. I also do some running, and joined the Malvern Joggers in September last year. I run twice a week with them, and once on my own. I have entered various races in the area, and did my first half marathon in March. I very much enjoy being outdoors, unfortunately, I am unable to spend all my time outside as I work as a Premier Banking Manager for Lloyds TSB. This involves managing a set of customers based across four branches in the Herefordshire Group. I have worked for the Bank for fifteen years, gradually working my way through various roles - maybe it's time for a change? I am very much looking forward to November, and the challenge of the Trek".
Frankie Owens "age 31 yrs, father of 1, fiancé of 1, Head of Business Development for the Arts Institute Bournemouth. Enjoys active lifestyle everything from Golf to Gastronomy. First time doing a Trek, first time going to Nepal, first time wearing rambling boots and fanny pack. My cousin Nicholas Owens went to the Rainbow Centre before going to the Futcher school, so have seen how the centre helps families and children with cerebral palsy. I have already raised over £1000 through B2B sponsorship and hope to complete the fundraising during this summer. I look forward to trekking with you all in November."
