The new Rainbow Bradbury building (Phase 1)
|

Quay Street |
Since 1990, we have done our very special work under difficult conditions. We started life in a private house, moved to a school gymnasium and then rented a council building in Quay Street, in Fareham. These premises were meant to be our home for only two years, until Fareham Borough Council redeveloped the town centre. In fact, we stayed for thirteen! In 2004, after all that time of carrying children with disabilities up a steep flight of stairs, suffering 100F heat in the summer, because of the flat roof, and temperatures at the other end of the spectrum in the winter, the roof began to leak - badly. Buckets on the floor to catch the drips were commonplace!

|
We had to move out, but our building project hadn't yet raised enough money for the new building so once again the Council and a local secondary school came to the rescue. As an interim measure we occupied two temporary classrooms in Cams Hill School. The licence ran for 2 years only. So all efforts were put into raising money through a Capital Appeal which we called the Pot of Gold Appeal to build on the land that Fareham Borough Council has given us at a peppercorn rent
.

The first part of the building is now complete and occupied. We are now raising money for phase 2 (see below).
|
The design of the new building has been planned in two phases. Phase 1 provides two large workrooms, one of which can be split to give two separate units. It also provides offices and facilities to support the staff.
Phase 2 will create increased space to allow us to accomodate our teaching project, provide new consulting rooms as well as adding already needed extra admin space. We raised enough money to start phase 1 in the Summer of 2005 (completed in Spring 2006) and hopefully phase 2 will follow soon after. |
