Rainbow Centre Bradbury Building - Officially Opened
After a week of heavy rain - Saturday 7th October 2006, saw sunshine outside and inside the Bradbury Building when BBC's Sally Taylor and Meridian's Fred Dinenage arrived to open the Rainbow Centre's new building.

Arriving guests were greeted with a performance by the HMS Collingwood Volunteer band, playing a selection of popular and military music.

Chairman of the Board Trustees - Mrs Susan Bayford, welcomed guests and spoke of the founding of the Rainbow Centre 19 years ago . She described the day as very special to all those who have helped create this Centre of Excellence.

She handed over to Helen Somerset How - Appeals Director - who spoke of the hectic week preparing for the official opening, which had included an unannounced inspection by Ofsted. For the second time in a year, the Rainbow Centre was awarded an "Outstanding" assessment in all five categories inspected.

In recognition of such an achievement, Magdi Kovacs, (Senior Conductor) was presented with a bottle of champagne.
Helen thanked all those who made the new building possible, including donors, volunteers, and patrons and paid special tribute to Magdi's staff and their contribution to making today possible.
Helen then went on to describe how the Rainbow Centre makes a huge difference to the children and mentioned some of the achievements of those who have left the Rainbow Centre now leading fulfilled lives.
